LSU Champion Angel Reese’s Most Groundbreaking Records In College Basketball History

The 2022-23 Louisiana State Lady Tigers won the NCAA Championship under Angel Reese. Reese broke many records in her first year with the Lady Tigers owing to her stellar play. 

The 21-year-old averaged 23 points and 15.4 rebounds as the fourth-leading scorer and rebounder. Only four NCAA players have led the season in scoring and rebounds.

According to Reveille, Reese became the only player with 34 double-doubles in the season. She had double-doubles in all six LSU Tournament games.

The 2023 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player broke Sylvia Fowles' continuous double-double record at the start of the season. While Fowles has 19, Reese leads with 23. 

Her double-doubles helped her club win 23 games. LSU fell 64-88 to the South Carolina Gamecocks after Reese scored 16 points and 4 rebounds after her double-doubles.

Reese set an SEC record with 555 rebounds in a season. Only eight rebounds separated her from NCAA record holder Natalie Butler (563).

Reese led her team to an 88-42 win over Lamar Cardinals. She became the only player in NBA, WNBA, women's NCAA, and men's NCAA history to score 30+ points, 15+ rebounds, 4+ assists, and 4+ steals. She shot above 80% and succeeded. She joined the game's greats.
